The Definition of F-U Money

Here is an article by Dr. Boyce Watkins making a great point;

Hey peeps!
Not too long ago, I was invited to appear on a show called "The Breakfast Club."  The show is hosted in New York and is one of most popular radio shows in the entire United States.  Typically, they typically have guests like Jay-Z, Rihanna, Chris Brown and other prominent musical guests.

I was impressed that the show had me on as a guest because it told me that our community is hungry for knowledge and empowerment.  Black people are no longer interested in being stuck in the economic basement. Instead, we want to empower our children, build our wealth and plant seeds for the next generation.

Most importantly, it told me that people are tried of living on the corporate plantation.

During the interview, I mentioned a concept that I refer to as "F-U Money."  F-U can be defined as a creative way of saying "I don't care what you think," or "I'm going to do what I want to do."  The problem is that when most of us go to work, we have to care what our bosses think, even if our bosses are wrong.

When we are disrepected, we have to endure the disrespect.

When we are mistreated, we have to let someone else mistreat us.

When the situation calls for us to stand up, someone is there to tell us to sit right now.

That's no way to live.

If you want to see my interview on The Breakfast Club and the definition of "F-U Money,"please visit this link.  I really think you're going to enjoy the conversation.

Sincerely,
Dr Boyce Watkins
