I think one of the worst things, sports wise, that ever happened to me was when the Knicks and the Spurs played against one another in the strike shortened NBA season and I didn't want either team to lose because both sides had players who TRULY DESERVED AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP. Patrick Ewing had reached the end of his career and could only watch from the sidelines. David Robinson was still chasing a ring alongside Sean Elliot and Avery Johnson. Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell along with Marcus Camby were also fighting for a ring. I am CERTAIN, if Patrick Ewing wasn't injured, the Knicks would have won.
But he was injured. And couldn't play. Never mind he was no longer the man he had been. But of all the players on the court, Larry Johnson had made the most changes to his game and found out the universal truth about being any kind of athlete. Once you HAVE certain injuries?
They were by far the most interesting team to WATCH! With their BLUE BEE-HIVE COLORED FLOOR ARENA IN THE PAINT! It is utterly amazing to see how much basketball in America has DECLINED. Larry Johnson in his heyday WOULD DESTROY THE LEAGUE AS IT IS NOW! Alongside of Alonzo Mourning? That would be like telling Shaq and Kobe to return to prime playing age IN TODAY'S GAME!

Larry Johnson was among the first Black NBA Players to honestly know what he was worth AND DEMAND THAT WHITES PAY HIM WHAT HE WAS WORTH! Which turned him into an INSTANT VILLAIN! And I loved EVERY, FUCKIN, MINUTE OF IT! Because it highlighted once again that the belief is that Black People are just supposed to be OH SOH GRATEFUL to be MAKING MONEY FOR WHITES AND WHITE-JEWS THAT THEY NEGLECT THEMSELVES LIKE THE MAGIC-NEGRO STEREOTYPE, well!?

The funny thing is that LJ was EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE with being looked at as The Villain! But I saw that when he did that whole Grandma Ma, which was Madea BEFORE MADEA, all of a sudden? White People calmed down towards him then. THAT'S SOME CREEPY SHIT RIGHT THERE! >_<

In the end, Larry Johnson suffered a back injury that COMPLETELY TOOK AWAY his inside game and FRIGHTENING EXPLOSIVENESS EVEN IN CROWDS OF PEOPLE! At 6'5" he was already UNDERSIZED AS A POWER FORWARD. But with the back injury? It seemed like his career was over, BUT!? He developed his outside game and 3-point shot and KEPT ON GOING! LJ has been constantly trying to PUSH BLACK ATHLETES TO FORM THEIR OWN LEAGUE, EVEN WHILE WORKING FOR THE NEW YORK KNICKS! I would love to have a chance to sit down with him and just talk, because I know he has A LOT to say about where we are as Black People and why his attempts to DEFECT from the NBA never gets any takers.
