Some in the tech world took to Twitter to rejoice the appointment of Stacy Brown-Philpotas the new chief executive of TaskRabbit, the on-demand marketplace for odd jobs.
Outgoing CEO and founder Leah Busque, who will become the San Francisco company’s executive chairman, wrote on Medium that Brown-Philpot helped her with expanding the business internationally.
Brown-Philpot is one of the few African-American women to hold the top spot at a high-profile tech company. Most prominent is Ursula Burns at Xerox, as Recode points out.
Most recently TaskRabbit’s chief operating officer, Brown-Philpot has also been an executive at Google and worked at PriceWaterhouse Cooper. In 2015, she was named a director at HP Inc.
Throughout her career, she has addressed diversity issues at work. At Google, she was the founder of the Black Googler Network.
