Just stopping by because I finally got over the hurdle of introducing the main villain and now I am fleshing out the henchmen that go along with the Villain. If there is one thing that we all know is that in too many books and movies and TV-shows, things are made easily digestible for us by having the bad guys clearly illustrated that this person, these people, ARE THE BAD GUYS.
In life?
Not quite that easy. Sometimes bad people come in pretty packages. Other times they know all the right things to say, they just don't DO THE RIGHT THINGS. So as far as I'm concerned if bad guys were so easy to spot and deal with, then the world would be a great place to live in DEPENDING ON YOUR DEFINITION OF BEING BAD, evil, good, etc! One person's hero is another person's villain and all of that good shit right there! So it can sometimes be subjective, other times it isn't subjective at all and the person doing the subjecting is actually a villain too! Or at least they are not exactly morally stable.
In the stories I have written, be they catfight stories. Unpublished books. Short stories. Or ideas that people have asked me to create for them or things where people have asked me "Hey, Shawn man, how would you do the Transformers movies?" I like to create things that are along the lines of edutainment. Which means educational. And entertaining. Now? Educational doesn't mean literally, but it leaves the reader with something to think about. Nothing wrong with getting the gray matter going, I encourage it and I would suggest you exercise your brain early, often, and as much as possible! It is a muscle you know and like all muscles if it doesn't get exercise it does actually shrink! So don't be afraid to think and grow and read and learn and question the world around you and then actually work to find out answers AND LISSSSSSSSSSSSTEN, too. Always remember to listen too. And there might be times where you have to stop and listen or straight-up listen first, before you do anything else. Nothing wrong with being a good listener as long as you pay attention to the person talking and understand what they are saying.
Right now, soon as I'm done here, I'm gonna go on ahead and get back to typing and actually fleshing out BOTH SIDES to the story I've written. Since I already know that life has its black-n-white and shades of gray in-between, I'm not gonna shortchange the reader by giving them a good hand-holding lesson on who the "good guys are" and oh-look, "these are the bad people", so boo them lustily! FUCK OUTTA HERE!
A good story will definitely have its heroes and villains, and heroes are only as good as their villains, however? A GREAT STORY? Or at least, a memorable one? Actually has heroes and villains who have their share of flaws and fuck-up's, mixed in with straight-shooting heroes who are easy to spot and evil villains where there is nothing to question, but at the same time...? Within this mixture of good, evil, and other, are villains who aren't villains, and heroes, who aren't heroes. Making the reader discern the differences and sniff them out gives the reader a little window into how they see the world around them too.
Later!
